I'm looking for some tutorials on how to do the chunky text on postcards, and font recommendations for that too. I've found a tutorial on how to get images into the chunky text for picture postcards, which isn't really what I'm looking for... I'm looking for the type with gradients and shading and warping, kinda like the Indiana Jones logo (but a postcard style, not comic book). Can anyone point me in the right direction? _________________ Customize Your Life | Disabled NYC | Ice Cream Forum |

| Can you post an example of what your are looking for? If you need an Indiana Jones style font, try SF Fedora. It came loaded on my CS 2 and is the font that they use for the movie. |

I just found a page with a lot of the information I'm looking for:
http://www.jpkabala.com/paranormal/postcards.htm
I don't want pictures inside the letters though, I'm looking for a tutorials on how to do the gradients and outlines on text like a postcard like that might have (if it didn't have pictures inside the text, that is). The Indiana Jones text was just an example of a very similar look. _________________ Customize Your Life | Disabled NYC | Ice Cream Forum |

Off the top of my head:
• type your text
• type->create outlines
• object->envelope distort->make with warp
• object->expand (or object->expand appearance)
• add your gradient (or you could do this before you do the distort if you want the gradient to curve with the text; if you do, then make sure to do object->envelope distort->envelope options and check the 'affect gradients' box before you expand it)
• add your outline
• copy this stuff onto a new layer beneath the original layer, lock the original layer
• make another copy where you want the bottom of the text's extruded outline to be
• select all, object->blend->make
• object->blend->blend options and play around until it looks solid
There are other ways to do it, including ones that will leave the text editable, but this should be simple and quick. _________________ egypt.urnash.com. minimal stuff. |
