Hello Marcus. How do you start doing these these vector portraits?? I have coreldraw but don't know how where to start in making my jpegs look like this. Are these plugins and filters from inside corel or do you need to know how to hand draw also?? I not a artist at all but I use plugin in photoshop to achieve similar results but not ever like this. Can you please give me a basic tutorial on how to start to learn this how to achieve this look. Im new to the whole corel portrait vector thing.. Also how long does something like this take to finish? Please reply. Thanks.

Hello.
well, from my perspective, it is strongly recommended that you know how to hand draw also... it will help you a lot when playing a little more with the references...
but for this type of portrait (which is basically a recreation of a picture), what usually i do is to use the bčzier\pen tool tool in corelDraw over the picture to recreate the basic lines (face contour, eyes, nose, mouth position) and then starting making those many other shapes to achieve the depht and effects i want for the final coloring.
there are no secrets nor plugins used...
just many shapes (drawn with that tools i have mentioned) overlapping each other and colored using gradient and transparency effects.
usually it takes me about one/two months to have it done, but this is because i am a very lazy and perfectionist person... =)
i hope that helps you.

Thanks a lot! And yes, the hair on this piece was one of the most complicated hairs I have ever worked on. =)
