"Shell"
Description
In honor of Mary Shelly, author of “Frankenstein”, Jules Verne, the first modern day futurist and the classic silent film “Metropolis”.
This is my most complex vector piece to date, composed in Illustrator CS3. I used a base of mesh gradients over which I placed various flat vector shapes for the details along with transparencies and gradations for the highlights and shadows, but mostly, a lot of time. The pose was based on a photo of a statue. The face was based on a random photo
of a woman. No other visual references were used other than what was in my own head.

Craig,
You have outdone yourself! This is absolutely fantastic. I love the Retro-Jules Verne-Steampunk style that you have incorporated into it. BRAVO, my friend, I salute you!

I really dig all of the artwork that you do. Yeah, steampunk is so freakin' cool, I would have loved to have been a mad scientist in the Victorian Era.

Nice detail and use of lighting. It has a very dramatic feel to it. Like it should be the opening to a short story in Playboy. In the figure, you really capture the feel of light side/shadow side to indicate volume. I like it.

Thank so much... it gets more kinky!

I feel like I'm jumping on the bandwagon here, but HOLY FRICKIN' WOW! This is beautiful. I can't wait until the movie comes out...
The steampunk reference by Dirk is interesting, too, as I only recently heard the term for the first time, myself. My cousin was explaining it to me, and then a couple days later you uploaded your scorpion woman. Crazy coincidence...

Another winner! You should compile these into an Illustrator graphic novel of some sort. You could call it "The Twisted Tales of the Mechanobabes!" =D

Maybe!! Maybe...! Well thanks, man! I'm working on another with Shell.... this one's kind of a take on "The sensual robot meets - steampunk - meets mega-booty...lol!

Sorry for the delay on commenting, it must be "Shell shock"! :) Actually, I couldn't decide if I prefer Shell better from the front or the back! :) Either way, both are outstanding pieces Craig! Glad to hear that there is something going on behind the "scenes" with regard to film possibilities, hope it all works out!
