Was old school, pencils, pens and airbrush, now digital. My speciality is technical stuff for local industry and a national magazine. Been working with Illustrator since v3, but still don't understand most of it! Thank heavens for sites like this with experts and tutorials, or links to the knowledge.
Lotus Cortina Mk1
Description The Lotus Cortina, born in the '60's when Ford UK asked Lotus turn a commercially successful family saloon into a competition winner. This they did with the introduction of the Lotus Cortina painted white with its trade mark green flash down the side and the all important Lotus badges. The car became a legend with countless race and rally successes to its name and even after 40 years it is still a very desirable car, leading to there being many fakes on the market.
This one is for real, but the only way to really tell is to see the dashboard and look under the bonnet (hood).
I did this one more like an airbrush illustration. I created the shading using mesh and blends and then masking them to the shape of the area being worked on. This is much easier than making the mesh fit the area exactly, as I tried to do in most of my other work.
