Description In my opinion as an artist, there is no more beautiful locomotive than the 4-4-4-4 Pennsylvania Railroad T1 Duplex locomotive. Industrial designer Raymond Loewy really outdid himself with this highly sophisticated streamlined. This was the last of the great American steam locomotives. By 1957, all steam locomotives on major mainline American railroads had been replaced by diesel/electric locomotives. The reign of the Iron Horse had ended.
