I have an MFA Degree in Illustration from Cal State Fullerton. I am also a digital illustration instructor at CSUF. I have been teaching there for almost 9 years now. I am also a computer graphics instructor at Santa Ana College, Orange Coast College and East LA College. (all of these are in southern California, of course) I am also a freelance illustrator and I am looking for gallery representation for my Limited-Edition Fine Art Giclee Prints of my Vector Art Motorcycle Portraits.
The Paintball Gun Assembly
Description This was a really fun project. I learned quite bit from this one and really got into the whole "technical Illustration" work. For this one, I was literally given a box with the paintball gun in it, and a little bag of 4 or 5 allen wrenches! That was it! And then, the client said, "Make it look interesting". That was it! I had never held a paintball gun in my life, and now I was expected to take it all apart, draw the assembly of it AND make it look cool. Hope you like it as much as I had in creating the drawing. - Chris.

Thanks Todd! I really like to explore a few different ways to go through this program and try out different "looks". Plus, I really dig Technical Illustration now.

Wow! Doing this kind of work all day for my job I can attest to the difficulty of it. Awesome work!
Do you use any symbols in this for the bolts and nuts or just create each part by hand?

Each part created by hand... I wish I could upload a very large, detail image, but this will have to do for now. Some day, I might go back in and flesh it out with color for a more solid look. No symbols so far.

In my work I used a symbols package from Code Zebra but found a lot of them kind of crappy. Some were good enough to build on. Slowly I've built a little collection of good ones that will do for most of my work. The exploded equipment views are very time consuming and tedious so any time savings is a good thing for me.

sounds useful...especially if that's what you do every day. This was a one-time job for this type of work, so I had to get it done fast. I will check out your work. Thanks for the discussion.

Unfortunately I can't post most of my work art. The only art I post here is just my personal art. One of these days I'll get my portfolio site up.
