I have an MFA Degree in Illustration from Cal State Fullerton. I am also a digital illustration instructor at CSUF. I have been teaching there for almost 9 years now. I am also a computer graphics instructor at Santa Ana College, Orange Coast College and East LA College. (all of these are in southern California, of course) I am also a freelance illustrator and I am looking for gallery representation for my Limited-Edition Fine Art Giclee Prints of my Vector Art Motorcycle Portraits.

Description
This was my FIRST Motorcycle Portrait. Done entirely in Illustrator CS with absolutely NO GRADIENTS, NO FILTERS, NO SPECIAL EFFECTS of any kind whatsoever... just a lot of little shapes created with the pen tool and the Pathfinder Palette. Let me know what you think. And be sure to check out my other motorcycle portraits as well... THANKS!

Thanks again Todd. As this one was the first motorcycle portrait I did, I really learned quite a bit from this one...

That what I call High Horsepower Illustrator! The Pathfinder palette is one of my most oft-used features of the program. Beautiful!

"High Horsepower Illustrator!" I love the sound of that! Thanks man! Wait until I get to upload the cars that I have done as well... Until then, LONG LIVE THE ALMIGHTY PATHFINDER! - Chris.

Glad you like your new "title"! :-) I was showing your IW image "The Crypt" to one of my students last night and he nearly quit Illustrator right then and there! LOL. I said, "Hang in there!", so he'll keep trying. Talk to you soon! Brad

Hey Brad... Thanks for showing off the work. I show it to all my students as well... More for "Inspiration", not "Intimidation"! Any time your student has a question about my work, tell them they can email me any time. -Chris

Thanks Chris... after their initial blowout, I advised them to take a deep breath and sign up for the site. I'll tell them you'd welcome questions. Best, Brad

Chris, so glad to see your stuff up here again! I still talk about this piece, even though I originally saw it, what, 2 years ago? Your work continues to amaze me. THIS is the kind of art that really shows the beauty within Illustrator. Mesh usage is fine (I've used it extensively myself) but at a certain point, it doesn't hold a candle to this kind of artistic interpretation.
22 March 2007 - 10:21: Chris Nielsen (pentoolart) replied...
WOW! You are right... it was almost 2 years ago that I first posted my work. When the initial site crashed, I kind of gave up for a while, then found Illustratorworld again, so it is good to be back! Thanks for remembering me. You just made my day. I also agree about the mesh tool. It is fine, but I also tend to appreciate the more stylistic look of an interpretive style, rather than the smooth, slick realism that can be expertly achieved with the Mesh Tool. Thanks for the comments. By the way, what is your name? Your first name anyway... - Chris.

Chris, Glad to brighten someone's day! It's Stephen, by the way.

2 April 2007 - 16:27: Chris Nielsen (pentoolart) replied...
Thanks for the feedback "hippo". My work takes about 2 months to complete due to my lack of computer time since I am teaching so much. But, that is a typical time frame. I have been working in Illustrator since Version 3.0. - Chris.
