Was old school, pencils, pens and airbrush, now digital. My speciality is technical stuff for local industry and a national magazine. Been working with Illustrator since v3, but still don't understand most of it! Thank heavens for sites like this with experts and tutorials, or links to the knowledge.
Freedom of the sky
Freedom of the sky
Description
Probably the prettiest aircraft ever, why do we have to have the ugliness of war to get it? I wanted to show the elegance of the wing shape and the freedom it gives those lucky enough to fly one.

I used a bit of everything for this one, mesh, gardient fills and blends with transparency effects and masking.

What ho me old mouse jockey. Is it a MkV? No Dan, its my first try, ha ha ha. I suspect it is, I was actually looking for a picture of a (Triumph) Spitfire and Google found loads of aircraft shots. I felt inspired and researched the detail from other sites. I once told someone I was restoring a Spitfire and was a hero for about 30 seconds untill he realised I was talking about the old sportscar, wizard prang! Toodle pip! Graham

Looks good no matter what. Try Triumph+spitfire next time and see what you got. Can we be heroes if we draw them? Dan

Beautiful work! Sounds like you have a similar background to mine. Lots of technical art for work with a creative side for fun. :)

Thanks Jerry. I just sometimes wish I could break out of the shackles of technique, but I have enjoyed using Illustrator now I finaly understand most of the tools.

Yeah sometimes I wish I could break away from the technical drawings and wiring diagrams I have to do for work but they pay the bills and allow me a little time to do the occasional creative art I like.

Trouble sometimes 'they' don't give us credit for what we can do, or give us the chance. Don't get ne started.... ;-)

Heh, heh. Yeah it's usually the, "What have you done for me lately?" attitude.
