I'm an all around prepress and design guy. AI is absolutely my favorite app, but I am well-versed in Quark Xpress, InDesign and PhotoShop, just to name a few.
My background includes everything from high end drum scanning, large format printing, print shop experience, graphic design, illustration and mat cutting and framing to abstract expressionistic painting, newsprint and screenprinting. My experience is certainly more broad than deep, but at least that way I can get into trouble in a lot of different areas.
I'm married to a wonderful woman, with 3 awesome kids. Currently working doing primarily design, project management and general art direction for a small marketing firm.

This is one of my favorite of your flowers. What is your technique? Are you using the gradient mesh tool?

Thank you for taking the time to share how you render your flowers. They are beautifull I'm inspired on your use lighting. I've been working on an orchid. I've got two of my sepal petals looking really good but the top petal is quite hard. but your technique makes sense. I will try it out and let ya know what i come up with thank you so much!
Zion..what else would he use to make somthing like this besides mesh?
Im being serious [not trying to be a jerk]

A blur is a way to soften the edges of a vector shape ... think of it as a feathering of the edge.
As far as how I created the piece, you can do a lot more than use mesh to create something like this. Go check out Todd Ferris (warking) ... he has only recently started using mesh, but most of his pieces are not mesh and they are gorgeous.
Zion had asked for detailed information on my technique, which I had e-mailed to him, not that he needs any teaching from me ... more like the other way 'round!
